Light it Up Blue – Blue Lighting of Monuments and Museums for the
The Department of Antiquities announces that on the 2nd of April 2015, International Autism Awareness Day, it will take part in the Light it Up Blue event. Within this framework, the lighting of the Medieval Castles of Limassol, Kolossi, and Larnaka, the Archaeological Site of Choirokoitia, the Medieval Manor House at Kouklia, as well as the Cyprus Museum, the Archaeological Museums of the Limassol and Larnaka Districts and the Local Archaeological Museum of Marion-Arsinoe at Polis Chrysochous, will turn blue. The Department of Antiquities joins in the efforts to raise public awareness concerning the problems that persons with Autism and their families face, as part of its wider strategy towards protecting and promoting our archaeological heritage for the benefit of the society in its entirety. It is the belief of the Department of Antiquities that culture belongs to all citizens, and that the increase of knowledge on the significance of archaeological values, and their sustainability, contributes directly in the creation of the basis for social development.
