Le Musée du Louvre
28 October, 2012 - 28 January 2013
The exhibition is organised within the framework of Cyprus' Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Le Musée du Louvre in collaboration with the Department of Antiquities invite visitors to discover Medieval Cyprus through an exhibition entitled “Cyprus between Byzantium and the West, 4th – 16th centuries”.
On this occasion icons, manuscripts, sculptures, architectural fragments, silverware and ceramics, 150 objects in total, recount the contrasting artistic history of the island. From the 4th century - the first byzantine century marked by the triumph of the new Christian religion throughout the Roman Empire - until the conquest of the island by the Turks in 1571, new forms of art flourished in Cyprus.
The exhibition will be inaugurated by the Presidents of Cyprus and France on the 26th October 2012 and will last until the 28th January 2013. A catalogue has been published in French.
