Unmanned Aircraft / Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (Drones)

The use and operation of Unmanned Aircraft (Drones), in the airspace of the Republic of Cyprus, is governed under the Civil Aviation Act (N213(I)/2002/2015) , the Ministerial Decree No.402/2015- (Conditions for the Operation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in the Republic of Cyprus - 2015 as amended)
and Decision No. 403/2015 (27.11.2015) – (Exemption of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles from Obligatory Registration) Decision 2015.

All remotely piloted and autonomous aircraft from the small consumer devices used for recreation, to large aircraft used for other purposes, are subject to the provisions of the above legislation which aims to the safety of flights within the Cyprus Airspace.

Owners and operators of Drones are required to comply with the provisions of the applicable legislation. Violation of the law constitutes an offence and offenders will be liable to penalties.
