Sanctions Information Notices (SINs)

Sanctions Information Notices (SINs) is the newly established procedure for the purposes of announcing and/or communicating United Nations economic sanctions and European Union restrictive measures in force in the field of merchant shipping.

Our Department, as of 1st January 2017, shall communicate UN and EU instruments, setting out the applicable sanctions/restrictive measures, in the form of Sanctions Information Notices (SINs) and shall no longer issue Circulars on these matters.

The newly established procedure, seeks to enable the public, to trace and collect in an easier, more efficient and comprehensive manner SINs relating to economic sanctions/restrictive measures in force in the field of merchant shipping. All SINs issued by DMS will be listed in this page as below.

However, it is stressed out that DMS Circulars issued in the past (prior to 2017) advising on the various economic sanctions/restrictive measures in force against States or persons and/or entities shall remain valid until their future repeal/replacement by SINs.

It must also be noted that a copy of all valid SINs must be placed on board Cyprus flag vessels.
