Press Release: The second Shipping Meeting in Athens
The Department of Merchant Shipping and the Maritime Office of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Athens organized the second Shipping Meeting in Athens on Thursday 06th April 2017. During this Shipping Meeting a presentation on the two hot issues which concern the shipping industry took place, the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ship’s Ballast Water and Sediments 2004 (BWM Convention) and how will Cyprus Flag manage the Convention prior and after its entry into force (08/09/2017) and the EU Regulation 2015/757 on Monitoring, Reporting and Verification of CO2 emissions in maritime transport (MRV Regulation).
The second Shipping Meeting was successfully completed with an attendance of more than 50 representatives of 25 companies & Classification Societies. The presentation was followed by a cocktail reception.
Our goal is the establishment of these Shipping Meetings with thematic presentations regularly addressed to the companies based in Athens, where current and important matters concerning the Cyprus flag and shipping in general will be discussed. We hope that these meetings will be a channel for direct, personal and substantial communication between us.
