Estimate of Damages of Private Vehicles Involved in Accidents with Govermental Vehicles
In cases where private vehicles are involved in accidents with government vehicles, or vehicles of the United Nations Peace Keeping Force, the assessment of the damage done to the private vehicle should be made by the Department of the Electrical and Mechanical Services. Immediately after the accident, the owner of the private vehicle must
contact t
he District Office of the Department of Electrical and Mechanical Services of the district where the accident occurred, to arrange for an assessment of the damage done to the vehicle.
The Government pays damages when, on the basis of the Police report (which must be called to examine the causes of the accident) or on the basis of a relevant Court decision, the responsibility for the accident rests with the driver of the government vehicle.
It should be noted that a similar process is also followed in cases, where in the accident with the private vehicle any kind of movable or immovable government property is involved.
