The Department of Public Works, under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works of the Republic of Cyprus, participates as Project Partner in the Governance Project Dialogue4Tourism, the Institutional dialogue on Sustainable Tourism in the Mediterranean region and beyond.

Overall Project Objective
The overall objective of this project is to increase the coordination level and institutional capacity of public authorities, multi-level bodies, programs, strategies and initiatives in the Mediterranean to make greener, smarter and more resilient the infrastructure in tourism sector for the flourishing of local communities, visitors, and nature, embracing the fourfold approach of the mission: circularity of tourism services, environmental neutrality, sustainable ecosystem services, and cultural and natural preservation of resources.
Dialogue4Tourism project is expected to contribute to Euro-MED Mission#4 Specific Objectives, Green Deal, Union for Mediterranean (UfM) Greener Med Agenda & Ministerial Declaration on Sustainable Blue Economy, Mediterranean Strategy for Sustainable Development, etc.

Project Main Activities

Within its main activities, Dialogue4Tourism establishes cooperation and advocacy mechanisms such as Driving Tourism Transition Panel and Hub, Network of Sustainable Tourism Observatories deriving from BESTMED, the cross-synergies alliance and the Tourism Leaders’ Summit. Sustainable Tourism Policy Labs (STPLs) will be also organized. A robust advocacy strategy will be deployed, to bring Mediterranean Tourism in the top of the policy-leaders agendas by ensuring contribution to high-level and high profile events.

The Department of Public Works will participate in all actions of all Work Packages in the exchange of experiences and management of results in supporting the green and digital transitions, including the monitoring of the carbon footprint.
